Third Age

In the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Third Age is one period of the history of the Ground of the Medium. The end of this age is the time described in the Lord of the Rings .

It marks the end of any significant presence of Ground the Elfe S of the Medium, which from go away in their vast majority on the island of Tol Eressëa, on the other side of the ocean.

Chronology

The Third Age is long 3021 years.

The Calendar of the Comté (D.C.) was founded in the year 1601 of Third Age (T.A.); on the dates according to the Hobbit calendar of the S, it is enough to cut off 1600 at the years below.

  • 2 - Plantation of the second White Arbre with Undermined Tirith. Died of Isildur, killed by Orcs during the Disaster of the Fields of Iris; the Single Anneau is lost in water of the Anduin.

  • 109 - Elrond wife Celebrían, girl of Celeborn and Galadriel.
  • 130 - Birth of Elrohir and Elladan, wire of Elrond.
  • 241 - Birth of Arwen Undómiel, girl of Elrond.
  • 492 - the Orientaux invade the Gondor for the first time.
  • v. 550 - the king Turambar of Gondor demolishes the Eastern ones; the Rhovanion is subjected to Gondor.
  • 830 - 1149 - king-navigators of Gondor: many conquests (Umbar, Harad) and development of a powerful fleet. Apogee of Gondor.
  • 861 - Died of Eärendur, last king of Arnor. The kingdom of Arnor is divided between its three sons, giving rise to the kingdoms D Arthedain, of Cardolan and the Rhudaur.

  • v. 1000 - the Istari arrive in Ground of the Medium.

  • v. 1300 - Foundation of the kingdom of Angmar in the North-East of the Eriador by the King-Wizard. The Hobbits emigrate towards the west and settle of number in the neighborhoods of Bree; reappearance of the Nazgûl.
  • 1409 - Cardolan is devastated by the troops of Angmar, destruction of the tower of Amon Sûl.
  • 1432 - 1447 - Fratricidal Fight in Gondor, which in largely weakened fate.
  • 1601 - Two brothers Hobbit S, Marchon and Blancon, cross the river Baranduin and are installed on other bank: beginning of the colonization of the County. King d' Arthedain Argeleb II concedes to them the grounds in the west of Baranduin, soon renamed Brandevin by the new arrivals.
  • 1636 - the Great Plague decimates Gondor, Rhovanion and the County.
  • 1856 - First attack of the People-of-Carriages on Gondor. Battle of the Plains: Gondor loses its Eastern territories and its king Narmacil II fall to the combat.
  • 1899 - the king Calimehtar of Gondor drives out for a time the People-of-Carriages.
  • 1940 - Gondor and Arnor join again their old alliance; Arvedui, prince d' Arthedain, marries Fíriel, princess of Gondor.
  • 1944 - Attack united of the People-of-Carriages and Haradrim on Gondor. The king Ondoher is killed with the combat with his two sons. The Eärnil general demolishes the enemy in the south of the Ithilien of the south and pushes back People of the Carriages in the Marais of Dead the (battles of the Camp). Arvedui asserts the crown of Gondor, but this one is allotted to Eärnil.

One year after, the son of Durin VI, [[Náin]], is in his killed turn and the Dwarves leave it [[Moria]]. * 2000 - [[Nazgûl]] besiege [[Minas Ithil]], which falls two years later and becomes [[Minas Morgul]]; [[Sauron]] seizes palantir that the tower contained. * 2050 - Eärnur, from now on king of Gondor, takes up the challenge which launched the King-Wizard to him and disappears in Minas Morgul. End of the royal dynasty of [[Gondor]]: [[Mardil]] becomes the first [[Superintendent]] sovereign. * 2060 - The capacity of [[Fraud Guldur]] increases, and the Wise ones fear a return of Sauron. * 2063 - [[Gandalf]] goes to Dol Guldur; Sauron beats a retreat in the east and them [[Nazgûl]] terrent themselves with [[Minas Morgul]]: beginning of [[Vigilant Peace]]. * 2460 - End of Vigilant Peace with the return of Sauron to Dol Guldur with renewed forces. * 2463 - [[Sméagol]], known later under the name of [[Gollum]], the hand puts on [[Single Ring]] after having killed his/her Déagol cousin. A few years later, it ground in the subsoils of [[Misty Mounts]]. * 2510 - Balchoth, people of [[Eastern]], invade Gondor, where they conquer a great part of [[Calenardhon]], but they are beaten by [[Eorl the Young person]], come with the help from the Cirion Superintendent, during [[Battle of the fields of Celebrating]]. Cirion offers to him in reward the province of [[Calenardhon]] for its people. Eorl founds it [[kingdom of Rohan]]. * 2590 - [[Thrór]], king of the People of Durin, turns over in [[Erebor]], already colonized in 1999 by his grandfather Thráin I {{er}}. Grór, his/her brother, from goes away to the Iron Mounts. * 2758-2759 - The Hard Winter. Carried out by [[Wulf]], them [[Dunlending]] S invade to it [[kingdom of Rohan|Rohan]]. [[Gondor]] is attacked by the fleets of the pirates of [[Umbar]]. With the thaw, Fréálaf, nephew of Helm, legitimate king of Rohan, drive out Dunlendings and kill Wulf; the Corsairs are pushed back. * 2759 - [[Saroumane]] settles in [[Isengard]] * 2770 - The Dwarves are driven out of Erebor by [[the Dragon (Ground of the Medium)|dragon]] [[Smaug]]. * 2793-2799 - War of the Dwarves and the Orcs in the Misty Mounts after the murder of Thrór by the Orc [[Azog]]. * 2799 - [[Azanulbizar|Battle of Azanulbizar]] in front of the door is [[Moria]]. [The [Dwarf one (fantastic creature)|Dwarves]] beat the Orcs and Azog is killed, but Moria is not re-occupied. * 2911-2912 - The Long Winter. [[Brandevin]] freezes and the wolves invade to it [[County (Ground of the Medium)|County]]. [[Tharbad]] is devastated by the floods which follow. * 1 {{er}} March 2931 - Birth of [[Aragorn]], wire of [[Arathorn]]. * 2941 - [[Bilbon Sacquet]] finds it [[Single Ring]]; [[the White Council]] drives out [[Sauron]] of [[Fraud Guldur]]. [[The Dragon (Ground of the Medium)|dragon]] [[Smaug]] is killed by [[Hand-barrow]]; [[Battle of the Five Armies]]. * 2951 - Last meeting of [[the White Council]]. Sauron returns in force to [[Mordor]] and starts to rebuild [[Barad-hard]]. * 2989-2994 - Attempt at reconquest of Moria by [[Balin]], which fails finally. * 3001 - [[Bilbon Sacquet]] festival its 111 years and leaves to it [[County (Ground of the Medium)|County]] * 3014 - [[Saroumane]] starts to use its influence to weaken [[Théoden]], king of [[the kingdom of Rohan|Rohan]]. * 3018 - Nazgûl are charged to find [[Single Ring]]; [[Gandalf]] turns over in [[the County (Ground of the Medium)|County]], saying to [[Frodon]] which it must leave with [[the Single Ring|Ring]]. * 3019 - [[War of the Ring]]: [[Saroumane]] is overcome during [[battles of Extremely-the-Horn]] after having invaded part of Rohan. Sauron east demolishes '' in extremis '' during [[battles of the Fields of Pelennor]], but its power seems to have to crush the armies of [[Free People]] in front of the Black Door. [[Single Ring]] is destroyed thanks to [[Gollum]] after the long voyage of [[Frodon Sacquet]] and [[Sam Gamegie]] until Orodruin.
