Thierry de Ludre

Armand Thierry, Diplomatic count de Ludre , , Historian and Journalist French born with Paris the July 30th 1903 and dead assassinated the June 17th 1940, on the road which carried out it of Orleans to Avord.

He is the first cousin of the German minister Franz von Papen and, by his mother, the grandson of the deputy of the Maine-et-Loire, the Maillé count. His/her father, Ferri of Ludre, was appointed of Nancy of 1902 with 1915. Friend of Gustav Stresemann, this former embassy attach3e to Berlin (1927 - 1928) was a pacifist partisan of the Franco-German bringing together.

Journalist with the Order , it will be stopped on order of Georges Mandel, then Minister of Interior Department of the government of Paul Reynaud, the June 5th 1940 with Charles Lesca and Alain Laubreaux, like his cousin, Robert Fabre-Luce. Imprisoned to Health, it was taken along towards the south the June 10th, supervised by armed guards. With foot, connected, it reaches Briare thus. Its fellows-prisoner all were released between the June 29th and the August 8th. Thierry de Ludre, asthmatic, not being able more to follow the convoy, was probably killed by his guards. Its corpse was thrown in the Canal of Briare, and was found the December 4th 1940 with the cemetery of the Conflans-on-Loire, near Montargis.

The November 19th 1940, the Vichyist board of inquiry on the disappearance of Thierry de Ludre, directed by Pierre de Bénouville, overpowered Georges Mandel, which was also declared responsible for the massacre of 21 Belgian political prisoners with Abbeville. As the Milice will seek somebody to carry out in reprisals with the assassination of Philippe Henriot, the name of Georges Mandel will be proposed “to avenge” for Ludre.
