Thierry V of Holland
Thierry V of Holland , born with Vlaardingen towards 1052, assassinated in Gueldre the June 17th 1091, was count de Hollande of 1061 with 1091. It was wire of Florent Ier, count in Plank, and of Gertrude of Saxony.
It succeeded his father under the regency of his mother, Gertrude of Saxony. Guillaume Ier, bishop of Utrecht benefitted from it to occupy of the grounds which he asserted in Holland. The claims of Guillaume were confirmed by two acts of the emperor Henri IV, the April 30th and the May 2nd 1064. Thierry preserved only the grounds at the west of Vlie and around the mouth of the the Rhine.
Gertrude and its son took refuge in the islands of Plank (Zealand), letting Guillaume occupy the disputed territory. Gertrude married in 1063 Robert the Clippings, the second wire of Baudouin V, count de Flandre. Thierry accepted in prerogative the imperial Flanders, including/understanding the islands of the Western Plank. The Flanders concerned the kingdom of France then, but had queques strongholds in the Empire. Baudouin benefitted from it to control the littoral until the north of Holland, but remained there only briefly.
Robert thus held all the Plank, of his own boss and that of his Thierry son-in-law. With died of his/her brother Baudouin VI, in 1070, it took the weapons against its nephew Arnoul III and the regent, and with Cassel in February 1071 overcame them. He then became count de Flandre. It is at that time that Thierry took the title of count de Hollande .
The war burst then between Holland and the évêché of Utrecht starting from 1075. It was due to the Querelle of the Nominations, a power struggle between the Pape and the emperor. The bishop of Utrecht supported the emperor, while the count of Holland supported the pope Gregoire VII and the anti-king Rodolphe.
Whereas Robert was engaged in Flanders, Guillaume of Utrecht tried to occupy Holland, but the Dutch people raised themselves. The emperor Henri IV sent the Godefroy III Uneven the, duke of Low-Lotharingie to subdue the revolt, but the duke was killed by revolted with Delft the February 26th 1076. Guillaume of Utrecht died the April 17th 1076.
Thierry V, now major and controlling his county, benefitted from it to benefit from these event. With the assistance of his father-in-law, it besieged Conrad, the new bishop, in the castle of Ysselmonde, and did it captive. The bishop had returns all the territories disputed to repurchase his freedom.

He married before 1083 Othelinde (v. 1054 † 1124), probably of Saxony, and had:- Florent II (1085 † 1121), count de Hollande
