Thierry Mariani , Politician French, born on August 8th, 1958 with Orange (Vaucluse).

Thierry Mariani grew with Valréas, where his/her parents were craftsmen of the building. After studies with the Small Seminar of Avignon, it joined the Military academy of Aix-en-Provence, then completes its university course in Paris, with a diploma of international law.

Thierry Mariani engaged in policy within the RPR, as of 1976, year of foundation of the movement gaullist.

After having exercised several local electoral mandates with Valréas, Thierry Mariani is elected appointed for the first time in 1993, at the time of legislative elections marked by one crushing victory of the right-hand side over the outgoing majority of left. Its district of election is the 4th district of the Vaucluse, which also includes the commune of Orange, where the National front is at the time established good.

Thierry Mariani is re-elected appointed in 1997, in particular dominating Jacques Bompard, then mayor National front of Orange. He is re-elected in 2002 and 2007. Since 2002, it belongs to the group UMP, after having supported the candidature of Nicolas Miguet the same year.

He is president of the " group; Coffee-Hotel-restaurants-Discothèques" (CHRD) with the National Assembly.

Thierry Mariani especially made known himself general public while often intervening in the debates on the security questions, safety and immigration, and while defending there of the rather firm and preserving positions.

In 1999, it is one of the most savage opponents at the institution of PACS.

In May 2001, it makes pass an amendment authorizing the police force to seize the material in the Free party.

In January 2002, it refuses to vote the law proposing to recognize on March 19th, 1962 like national Journée of the memory to the victims of the Guerre of Algeria.

It was also pointed out while taking part, in September 2002, with a voyage to Baghdad at the time very mediatized, with the deputies UMP Eric Diard and Didier Julia.

He also proposed with Christian Vanneste the amendments n°150 and n°267 (called “Vivendi-Universal amendments” with the n°247 because of their proposal by this company) during the discussion of the bill DADVSI between December 2005 and March 2006.

In September 2007, it also presented several amendments to the bill on immigration:

  • Authorization of recourse to the tests DNA during the delivery of the visas of more than three months under family gathering, in case of serious doubt on the authenticity of the act of civil statue (amendment removed in committee with the Senate),
  • Authorization of racial and ethnic statistics,
  • Division by two of the time of recourse for the requests for asylum (amendment N° 69, article 9, of September 17th, 2007). Adopted amendment.
  • Prohibition of emergency lodging to the people in irregular situation (mentioned in the media by SDF without-papers). (amendment N° 209, article 18, of September 17th, 2007). Amendment adopted initially by the National Assembly, then removed by the Senate.

Thierry Mariani is currently Member of the Commission of the laws of the National Assembly, vice-president of the delegation of the National Assembly for the European Union, and chair group of friendship France - Kazakhstan.
