Born in 1956 with Tarbes, Thierry Lodé is a Biologiste French, professor in evolutionary ecology and one of the best specialists in the Sexualité of the animals. Thierry Lodé is also largely implied in Biologie of the conservation.

Author of several works:

  • the war of the sexes in the animals, a natural history of sexuality 2006 Editions Odile Jacob
  • strategies of reproduction of the animals 2001 Editions Genetic Dunod Masson Sciences
  • of the populations 1998 Editions Ellipses

In its book the war of the sexes in the animals , devoted to the study of the sexual Conflict, Thierry Lodé reveals “in the animals, sexuality is a series of confrontations between males, of blows of claws between females and free-for-alls between males and females. The copulation consitue finally only a relative trève. In sexuality, there are no standards, only variations and since the animal Homosexualité with the orgy of the bonobo S, all seems allowed. Darwin has only with good to be held” (According to FM, the hebdo of Lausanne). The analysis of the sexual conflict shows the importance of the antagonistic process of Co-evolution in the evolution. The sexual conflict involves a process of Co-evolution antagonistic in which one of the sexes evolves/moves by developing features manipulators while the other sex (often females) against this evolution by expressing caractéristqiues of resistances. this phenomenon led so that Thierry Lodé calls, the evolutionary shooting with the cord. It is the existence of the diversity of the sexual strategies which involves the emergence of the new species (Spéciation), the Biodiversité is thus initially in love.

Not very academic researcher, his critical spirit and the passion of his courses make of it also a professor with share in the university world. Its scientific work comprises articles on the conservation of the Biodiversité (Vison of Europe, Loutre, Castor, Hibou means-duke), of the articles of ecology (ecology of the Putois, the Fouine etc…) and especially of many articles on the sexual strategies of the carnivorous S and the Frog S, in particular the article treating of the influence of the predation of the fitchet on the sexuality of the frogs (Polyandry) in the review Proceeding from the Royal Society Biology.

Director of the laboratory of animal ecology of the University of Angers until 2002, he was co-director of the UMR MY Landscapes and Biodiversity before integrating in 2006 the " team; UMR 6552 CNRS Rennes 1 EVE" (Ethology evolution Ecology) of the University of Rennes 1.

Thierry Lodé largely implied himself in the Protection of nature and the conservation of the wild carnivores. Sitting in various councils of protection of nature, it militated for the conservation of the otter of Europe Lutra will lutra , of the Fitchet Mustela putorius of mink of Europe Mustela lutreola and of the beaver Castor fiber in particular.
