Thierry Ier , born towards 965, died between the April 11th 1026 and the January 2nd 1027, was a count de Bar and duke of High-Lotharingie (or Lorraine). It was wire of Frederic Ier, count de Bar and duke High-Lotharingie and of Béatrice of France, sister of Hugues Capet.
It succeeds his father in 978 and his/her mother ensures regency until in 987. In 985, with other Lorraine lords (inter alia his first cousin Godefroy the prisoner, count de Verdun), it combatit the king Lothaire de France who besieged Verdun, but he was made prisoner.
He was an unconditional partisan of the emperors Ottoniens and combatit for Henri II against his cousins of the Luxembourg in 1011. He was again captured in 1018 as a combatant in Burgundy, but overcame Eudes II of Blois, count de Troyes and of Meaux. In 1019, it associated his/her son Frederic II with the government of the duchy. With died the emperor Henri II (1024), it combatit Conrad II, then changed alliance and recognized the emperor.
