Thierry De Mey

Thierry De Mey , born with Brussels on February 28th, 1956, is a Musicien and Belgian Cinéaste .

Biography

After studies of Cinema to IAD, it approaches the musical composition and its meeting with Fernand Schirren the conduit with the Contemporary dance, for which it will write many incidental musics. He works mainly for and with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Wim Vandekeybus and Michele Anne De Mey, his younger sister.

Founder of the whole of modern music Maximalist!, it takes part in other important whole like New Musiques and Ensemble Ictus, for which it composes several works. In 1993, it integrates a class of the IRCAM where it develops several musical computer programs.

Since July 1st 2005, it is one of the four new directors of Charleroi/Danses, more particularly charged to coordinate the multidisciplinary activities of the choreographic center.
