Thermotoga is one of Bactérie, pertaining to the order of Thermotogales, Thermophile, Anaérobie and Hétérotrophe. The cell is in the shape of stick surrounded by an external cellular membrane (the " toga"). The enzymes of Thermotoga are known to be active with high temperatures and have biotechnological applications.
Thermotoga maritima lives under anaerobic conditions in marine sediments close to the geothermal chimneys off Italy (Volcano). It can develop until 90°C. Its Génome is entirely sequence.
