Thermopyles
The Thermopyles (in Greek old Θερμοπύλαι / Thermopúlai , “the hot doors”, because of the many sources of warm water around) are a Greek procession which makes communicate the Thessalie and the Locride. It is located between the Mont Œta and the southern part of the Maliaque gulf.
Because of its strategic situation , the procession was the theater many battles, of which most famous is the Bataille of Thermopyles, where 1000 Greek soldiers (300 Spartiates as 700 soldiers of Thespies) carried out by Léonidas Ier de Sparte resisted the Perses of Xerxès Ier but perished.
The Amphictyonie of Delphes held its assemblies to with it.
