Thermal switch
The thermal switches are instrument S of Estimation of the Température.
They are two blades of metals or different, flexible Alliage S, Soudés or stuck one against the other, in the direction length. These two wrought iron plates by Rolling cold, are very often of the Invar and the Nickel having a different dilation coefficient. Their Dilation being different, the object becomes deformed with assembled in temperature.
The thermal switch was invented by the English clock and watch maker John Harrison.
The first Thermostat thermal switch was carried out by Bonnemain in 1777.
Uses
- the thermal switches were formerly used as Thermomètre S. One spoke then about thermometers thermal switches. They consist of a thermal switch in spiral and a graduated dial. If the temperature goes up, the spiral becomes deformed moving the needle opposite the dial.
- In the systems with twinkling bulbs (garland electric, indicators of car…) : The thermal switch is used like a Interrupteur. The current crosses the resistant thermal switch, which heats by Joule effect, heat deforms the thermal switch which bends, the circuit opens. When the thermal switch sufficiently cooled, it returns in its initial position and the circuit is closed again. The cycle starts again.
- the Refrigerating S, the Washing machines the linen are protected by a Interrupteur of the type Klixon, comprising a case and a thermal switch functioning in All or anything.
