Thergothon was a group of funeral Doom metal Finnish active between 1989 and 1992.
History
Thergothon was an influential group in the Finnish scene Doom metal. They were among the pioneers of the sub-genus of the Funeral doom metal, starting with their demonstration Fhtagn nagh Yog-Sothoth in 1991 and continuing with their kind believed and depressing with their only album, Stream from the Heavens , left in 1994. Their sound was extrèmement slow and consisted of long pieces which combined heavy fronts of guitar, Grunt S of a extrème depth and vague melodies of guitar. The group was already dissolves two years before the exit of their album.Niko Sirkiä and Jori Sjöroos continued to form This Empty Flow, which marked a stylistic departure distinct from Thergothon. The project approached the Shoegazing, playing for groups like Slowdive, but finished in the kind of the Trip-hop
Recently, Sjöroos regained reputation while composing of the songs for the group of Finnish pop-rock'n'roll popular, PMMP.
Niko Sirkiä enrengistre maintaining electronic music experimental under the pseudonym of Niko Skorpio, and directs a label of the name of Some Places Else.
