Therese Giehse , of her true name Therese Gift , born the March 6th 1898 with Munich, dead the March 3rd 1975, is a German actress .

Life

In 1918 - 1920, Therese Giehse studies the comedy at Tony Wittels-Stury. Its engagements of season, between 1920 and 1926, lead it in province: Siegen (Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia), Gleiwitz (Silesia, Landshut (Low-Bavaria), Breslau with Paul Barney. From 1926 with 1933, it is member of Kammerspiele of Munich, directed by Otto Falckenberg. It founds in 1933 with Erika and Klaus Mann with Munich, with the Cabaret the Pepper mill . With this one, she emigrates with the come to power of the Nazis, because she is Jewish and politically on the left, initially with Zurich, then of 1934 with 1936 in Belgium, with the Netherlands, the Luxembourg, in Austria and Czechoslovakia. The April 26th 1936, the 1000e representation of the Pepper mill is held with Amsterdam. As a temporary member of the Berliner Ensemble of Bertolt Brecht, it becomes, after the war an interpreter requested of Brecht. The realizer Paul Verhoeven had just pronounced the first sentence of his speech, on scene, and its face broke up, by learning the news.

The November 10th 1988, a stamp with its effigy was published in its honor, in the series Femmes of the German history . As it was a stamp very current of a German mark, its face became very known.
