Synopsis

Chavigny, in the suburbs of Paris. Joseph Boussard, a man of the majority, reigns on the city. Its assistant, some henchmen, undertake the dirty works. The elections are close. A billsticker of the opposite camp is killed “accidentally”. An awkward witness is killed. Doctor Peyrac, man of the left estimated of all, agrees to engage in the battle. He will be candidate against Boussard. How to bar the road to him? The assistant of the mayor succeeds in obtaining a faked photograph which it makes distribute: One sees there Mrs Peyrac “partouzant” in the residence of his Leroy friends. The assembly resists the investigations of laboratory. But Peyrac does not yield. The murder of the photographer, author of the forgery, is the occasion of a new machination. It is Peyrac which is shown of this assassination and is imprisoned. Will his wife, helped of Olga Leroy, succeed in proving her innocence? … Olga has friends placed high, more powerful than Boussart. the scandal could splash them. Boussart is requested to be erased with the profit of its assistant. Peyrac is released, but the friends of the first hour are not all to await it there, at its coming out of prison…
