The therapeutic cloning , or transfer of core of somatic cells, is a technique of production of alive material via the injection of original cells in the spinal-cord to replace a destroyed body), of which compatibility with the patient is guaranteed by the genetic relationship ensured by the Clonage.

The cloning is, generally, prone to polemics. Compared to the “reproductive” cloning known as, some see there a more acceptable form (because of the medical promises), and of other a worse form (because of the finality of the embryo used, dedicated to death, which chosifie a little more the Man).

The method most usually considered consists in including the core of a somatic Cellule adult in a Ovocyte énucléé to obtain, by division of the new cell, the cells totipotentes on which research base great hopes.

The concept, born at the end of the XXe century, was still not concretized in 2004. It is possible that it is obsolete before this realization, because of progress on these special cells, that it seems possible to obtain without recourse to their indirect manufacture by cloning. According to Axel Kahn, the therapeutic cloning would present very little medical interest, contrary to the cloning used at ends of research. Other scientists think that the therapeutic cloning would represent an major advance in the fight against currently incurable diseases and would make it possible to save many lives. Thus, a petition, signed by 10 scientific personalities, including two Nobel Prize of medicine, François Jacob and Jean Dausset, was given on June 17th, 2005 to the president of the National Assembly in order to support the private bill of the former minister for Research Roger-Gerard Schwartzenberg, aiming at authorizing this technique in certain conditions.
