Theophilus Raynaud

Theophilus Raynaud born in Sorpello, in the County of Nice, perhaps in 1584, and deceased with Lyon the October 31st 1663, is a Jesuit, author of several theological works in language Latin E.

Three of its treaties were censured by the Inquisition:

  • of Martyrio per pestem ( Martyrdom by the plague )
  • of Communione pro mortuis ( the Communion for deaths)
  • of Confixione Librorum ( the Composition of the Books )
It could make them reprint after having corrected them.

Its complete Œuvres appeared in Lyon in 1665 in 19 volumes, of which was assistant of Cracow, in 1669, a 20ère volume entitled Apopompæus (literally " the Goat émissaire") containing parts that it had excluded some.

Very appreciated Guy Shoe, he was an enemy of the Dominican Jansenists and .
