Theodoric Valeton

Theodoric Valeton is a Botaniste Dutch, born in 1855 with Groningue and died in 1929 with $the Hague.

It makes its studies with the Université of Groningue where it obtains its doctorate in 1886. Three years later, it leaves to Java like bacteriologist to the sugar experimental Station Pasoeroean. It enters in 1893 to the Botanical garden of Buitenzorg. It directs there the Herbier of 1903 to 1913, date of its departure to the retirement. It remains in Buitenzorg of 1916 with 1919 to study the Zingiberaceae there. In addition to many publications taxinomic, Valeton takes part in the drafting of Bijdragen early of kennis der Boomsoorten COp Java based on specimens collected by Sijfert Hendrik Koorders (1863-1919). Elias Magloire Durand (1794-1873) dedicates the to him Valentonia of Icacinaceae.
