Theodore Ier

Theodore Ier , born with Jerusalem, of Greek origin, 73 {{E}} pope of 642 until its death the May 14th 649.

He was the first pope to take again the title of Pontife (in Latin pontifex maximus ), fallen in disuse since the decline from the antique Roman religion. Starting from this pope, one can speak about pontificate without making anachronism.
