Theodor W. Hänsch

Theodor Wolfgang Hänsch is a German physicist who obtained the Nobel Prize of physics in 2005 for his work on development of the Spectroscopie based on the precision of the Laser, i.e. the determination of the Couleur of the light of the Atome S and Molécules with an extreme precision. It shares this price with Roy J. Glauber and John L. Hall. He currently teaches with the Université of Munich, and continues his work on the quantum optic on the campus of Garching.

The presentation of its work which it carried out at Stockholm during the handing-over of the price entitled " Passion for Precision" , and related to the application of a comb of frequency obtained by laser to the manufacture of clocks more precise than the cesium fountains. One could hope to obtain precise details about 10-17 thus.

It received the Prix Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz in 1989.
