the Honor of a captain is a film French carried out by Pierre Schoendoerffer, left on the screens in 1982.

Synopsis

The Guerre of Algeria is the subject of a televised debate. During this one, professor Paulet (Jean Vigny) denounces the methods of the captain Charon (Jacques Perrin) killed in 1957. Its widow Patricia (Nicole Garcia) decides to bring a lawsuit with Paulet. Patricia is defended by a friend, the young lawyer Valouin (Claude Jade) of Quimper, and by her uncle, barristers president (Georges Wilson); Paulet by Master Gillard (Charles Denner). The nineteen days of command of the Charon captain, screened. The former subordinates of Charon follow one another the bar. It is learned how that the captain arrived at the head of the battalion only the shortly after the execution of an Algerian traitor, in order to restore the order. Eighteen days thus and not nineteen, as Valouin declares. Charon is thus not responsible. Following a first offensive, three Fellagha S were made prisoners. One of them was carried out. But it was only the effect of a misunderstanding on the order: “Descend it. ”. Again, the doubt planes on the case Charon. Paulet denounces then the disappearance of a villager close to the fellaghas. But, there still the culpability of Charon is not proven. The professor will be condemned for slandering. Patricia will have saved “the honor of the captain”.
