Theobald Wolfe Tone was born the June 20th 1763 with Dublin in a modest family, of Protestant confession. With the eyes of some, he is the initiator of Irish republican nationalism. He makes studies of right to Trinity College, but its desire is to become soldier.

The year 1787 sees it arriving at London to finish its studies, but it is occupied more by the frequentation of the women, the Littérature, and it does not think that of the adventure.

Of return to Dublin in 1789, it is registered with the bar and is interested in the Politique. From moderated reformer, his convictions will be radicalized: he writes in particular an article in which he claims the separation of the Ireland and of the England (September 1791).

This same year, it is the creation of the Club of the Plain Irishmen (United Irishmen Society) to which it takes part; the purpose of this club is the release of Ireland, whatever the confession of its members. The June 13rd 1795, it leaves in exile towards the the United States. In February 1796, it arrives at Paris via Le Havre and meets Charles Delacroix de Contaut, then Minister for the Foreign relations of the Directoire for which it writes a report on his country and the interest of a French intervention. In July of the same year he becomes chief of brigade in the army of the Directory.

The December 15th 1796 an army of forty-five ships transporting thirteen thousand four hundred men leaves Brest. But a storm thwarts the operation close to the Irish coasts. A new forwarding is organized under the responsibility of Hoche, but will not take place.

The June 21st 1798, the rising of the Plain Irishmen is a bloody failure with Vinegar Hill. In September 1798, the English put in rout a new French forwarding, of which Wolfe Tone forms part. Recognized, it is stopped and the November 10th it is condemned to died by hanging.

By regard for the French uniform that it carries, it asks to be shot, which is refused to him. It slices the throat, its anguish lasts one week.
