Theo van Gogh (realizer)

Course

Theo van Gogh was born with $the Hague, great-grandson of Theodore van Gogh, brother of the painter Vincent van Gogh. His/her father, Johan van Gogh, belonged to the Dutch secret services.

It gives up the school and begins in the cinema by producing its first film Luger (1982). Two of its films were rewarded by a Gouden Kalf (the Dutch equivalent of the Oscar): Blind Goes back (1996) and In het belang van to staat (“In the Interest off the State”, 1997). He was also actor in Of noorderlingen (" The Northerners" , 1992).

Controversies

Its remarks on " the Jewish concern around Auschwitz " cause a sharp indignation on behalf of many Jewish intellectuals. Criticized by the Jewish historian Evelien Gans, he writes in the magazine Folia Civitatis : " I think that Mrs Gans made of the erotic dreams where it is made kiss by Josef Mengele ".

Last work of Van Gogh aimed at denouncing the lack of integration of the Dutch Moslems in the company and the danger which the rise of the Radical Islam for Europe could form. Theo van Gogh calls the Musulman S: " fuckers of chèvre" .

In 2004 it realizes, in collaboration with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, on the basis of scenario of this one, Submission , a short film denouncing the tender of the women in the Islam. This film their was worth many death threats to have shown a nude woman and on whom sentences of Coran were printed.

Assassination of Van Gogh

November 2nd, 2004, Mohammed Bouyeri wounds Van Gogh with a firearm in a public place, then completes it while drawing again. Eight balls will have reached the realizer. The young man cuts the throat of it, decapitating it almost. Then, it plants two knives in the chest to him of which one carries on the guard a letter addressed to Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Theo van Gogh had carried out two months earlier a short-measuring being entitled Submission with Ayaan Hirsi Ali. This first part showed women passing of a total God tender with a dialog with Him on a tone of challenge. They frankly looked at Allah and acknowledged to him which if the tender with Its law caused so many misfortunes, if It, they did not intervene would cease subjecting itself.

In remembering Theo van Gogh, a statue called De Schreeuw ( the Cry ), work of Jeroen Henneman, was revealed on March 18th, 2007. It is placed in the gardens of Oosterpark, in the Watergraafsmeer district of Amsterdam.
