Thekchok Dorje

The 14th Karmapa, Thekchok Dorje (1798 - 1868)

It was born in the village from Danang in the area from C Kham in the East from the Tibet, in the middle of the winter, and however of the flowers opened out spontaneously, and of many rainbows appeared. He was discovered, placed on the throne and ordered later by the 9th Taï Sitou Rinpoché.

The 14th Karmapa lived very simply and was the example of the ideal monk.

He was gifted in poetry and dialectical, and took part in the not-sectarian movement Rimé, by which many remarkable scholars showed a great interest for the other traditions and lesson. This was particularly intense between the traditions Kagyupa, Sakyapa and Nyingmapa, where Karmapa transmitted lesson to Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Taye and to Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. The 14th Karmapa itself accepted the Vajrakilaya will tantra of Chogyur Lingpa, the visionary Tertön discoverer of Nyingma text-treasure. Chogyur Lingpa had important visions of the futures Karmapa S, until the twenty and unième. They were noted and painted on a thangka.

The 14th Karmapa travelled through Tibet by spreading the lesson Kagyu. It found and identified the reincarnation of the 10th Taï Sitou Rinpoché, Pama Kunzang. It gave the major lesson Kagyu to Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Taye, large Master Rimé, and prolific author, who became the following holder of the line. The 14th Karmapa died in its sixtieth year.
