The theatrical kind is a type allotted to a text after its analysis.

The theater wants to be an imitation of an action of the real life: it is the dramatic art (drama=action). One often speaks about a " dramatique" for a play with the radio or on television.

The theatrical kind indicates at the same time a type of Littérature and makes it possible to classify the spectacles according to their style or of their membership of an artistic movement.

The Rule of the three Units

  • It was codified in 1636 by the French Academy after the first representations of Cid by Corneille.
