The pontifical Council for the dialog inter-monk
The pontifical council for the dialog inter-monk is a Dicastère of the Roman Curie. It was set up by the pope Paul VI on May 19th, 1964 as a secretariat for the not-Christians. It was later famous by the pope Jean-Paul II on June 28th, 1988. Its current president is the cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran.
The purpose of the council is to promote the Dialog inter-monk, the study of the religions and the training of the people, in agreement with work of the Concile Vatican II, in particular according to the declaration Nostra Ætate. He collaborates with the Commission for the relations with the Jews and the pontifical Conseil for the promotion of the unit of the Christians.
Work of the council was influenced by the career curiale of Francis Arinze, which received a price of the International counsel of Christians and Jewish. Arinze took part in many meetings inter-nuns and was created cardinal following his efforts.
The council is engaged in a search for a common dialog on the ethical and moral level. It publishes a bulletin of inter-nuns activities as well as a repertory of organizations inter-monk. Its former presidents are Paolo Marella, Sergio Pignedoli, Francis Arinze, Michael Fitzgerald and Paul Poupard.
