The plague in Lorraine
List epidemics of Peste in Lorraine:
the account of 1507, for the Prévôté of Châtenois, speaks about the granted reduction "
because of the Plague which had reigned there ".
- 1585 : After a few years of peace, the plague reappears in Lorraine.

prévôté of Châtenois is particularly tested, as the accounts of 1586 attest it, of 1593 and 1596. In ten years, Châtenois is tiny room of 900 inhabitants with 350 and
Houécourt loses 100 of them out of 280.
Viocourt, Balleville,
Rainville, Gironcourt, Dommartin, the round of applause of
Biécourt are reached in the same proportions. It remains with
Auzainvilliers one
Conduit. The town hall of
the River is completely destroyed whereas in 1560 it counted 40 conduits disseminated on the edges of the Vair and of Vraine, in Viocourt, Balleville, Saint-Paul, Dommartin and Removille. After sufferhaving suffered already much from the devastations of Reîtres ("
the houses all are almost deserted, said the receiver of Châtenois to the Room of the Accounts,
it remains only 13 conduits " there;), and after the passage of the plague, "
it did not lead no one there ".
- 1630 : The plague makes its appearance about Easter, to cease definitively only in 1637, having removed more of the quarter of the population.

Only in prévôté of Gondreville, several villages were completely depopulated:
Mount-the-Vineyard preserved only two or three inhabitants; Bagneux remained a long time deserted;
Aingeray was completely ruined; Molzey, close to Aingeray disappeared for always.
For 1630, the parochial acts of Gondreville count 18 deaths recorded (with large a " vide" between on March 28th and on September 10th), including 6 " of peste". If the first case announced by the register of the deaths is only of October 4th, the disease had to embank so much inhabitants since spring that the priest or writer does not seem to have had the time of " suivre" topicality obituary, whereas the registers of the baptisms and the marriages appear exhaustive.
