The noob

The noob is a American Webcomic (in English) created by Gianna Masetti in June 2004. The intrigue turns around a player neophyte called Ohforf' sake (“Oh, name of God”, summary generally in Ohforf) evolving/moving in a Roleplay video in line (MMORPG) fictitious named " ClichéQuest" and representing the stereotype of the " Noob ". This band-drawn acts of parody and social satire of the community gamer (in particular on the MMORPG). It comprises an important criticism of the incompetence of the employees of the companies of video games (particularly in the field of the relations person receiving benefits-customer) as well as players observing concerned behaviors completely distant from their true personality. This webcomic gained recently in popularity near the French players of World off Warcraft and EverQuest, and is traditional for the majority of the english-speaking followers of the MMORPG.

Characters

Protagonists

Ohforf (Ohforf' sake) is the main character of the history. He is neither player killer, nor Roleplay and plays only for the pleasure of discovering the universe of ClichéQuest while accumulating experience.
Hypatia somewhat is tested than Ohforf and is his/her friend nearest concerned. She is represented by a female character, in hillock with the aspirations of the author to describe the situation of the women (and female misadventures) in the MMORPG.
Darkie (Sir Darkblade Wolfeyes Orcbane Raislin De Urden Von Strudel) is an enthusiastic follower of the Roleplay. It is introduced into the history like friend close to scorning Hypatia and insulting the player killers with all-goes. It proves to be of an incompetence more the filth when it is about technical play and research constantly the love concerned, not hesitating to make the court with any female character.
Sir Bob is a player of ClichéQuest having reached the maximum level. Its class and its talent of play make of it a very popular character, who should have disappeared in the first stammerings from the history but which returned at the request of the readers.

Roleplay ers

Also known under the name of " The Righteous Protectors off the Crimson Star" (Right Guards of Crimson Star), they constitute an eccentric guild. They, on the initiative of their leader, will be integrated in a great association of guilds anti-Player killers whose members become the " Zealot Elite Righteous Guardians" (Right Guards Zealoies of Elite, name made up of four adjectfis coming each of the one of the four major guilds composing this association), shortened in ZERG. This pun identifies them in Zerg of the videoludic series Starcraft, where the Zerg people are known for launching attacks made up of tens of small not very effective individually and disorganized soldiers, however the howl with the moon of " ZERG! ZERG! ZERG! " is enough to frighten the remote km No.

Antagonists

The km No (Player Killers)

These players practice the combat PvP (Player versus Player - Player against Player also called Player Killing) at the expense of the other players and play only for satisfaction to have ruined the evening of play of their adversary. Most present in The Noob are:

Fred the Dread (literal Translation: Fred the fear), Human affublé of a hook as a hand and a panoply in skin of dead fox.
Dakilla (literal Translation: The killer), dark Elf, to arrange.
D34dly-D34dly (literal Translation: M0rt3l-M0rt3l), Human, magus pyromaniac, with the character pre-teenager.
Your name young stag (Your name here, sign of a comprehension of the English limited on behalf of this Latvian player), a brutal warrior handling the hammer and whose hard features point out the Slavic origins.
Drakoola (Dracula in more " kool"), which was formerly a pirate wizard and who became, following a " nerve " (drastic degradation of the conditions of play of a certain type of characters), a being reduced to a nose transported in a bottle, which can however speak and launch fates.

The GM (Masters Range)

They are the employees of the security company of ClichéQuest in charge of the communication concerned with the players. They like to bear names evoking the Apocalypse (Death, Famine, etc), to get dressed with long white dresses and to apply most maliciously and literally possible to the players their instructions coming from their hierarchically superior.
