The metropolitan Community of Quebec
The metropolitan Communauté of Quebec is a supra-municipal organization gathering of the municipalities of the area of the Capital-Main road and a municipality of the area the Boiler-Appalachian Mountains. It includes/understands the cities of the Agglomération of Quebec, the town of Lévis as well as the regional municipalities of county of the Jacques-Cartier, the Coast-of-Bowsprit and Island-in Orleans (except the not-organized territories).
It is competent in the fields of town and country planning, economic development, the residual inventory management and division of the growth of the land plate.
History
The metropolitan Communauté of Quebec (CMQ) was created on January 1st, 2002, creation date of the new towns of Lévis and Quebec, under the terms of a last law in December 2000, the Loi carrying reform of the municipal territorial organization of the metropolitan regions of Montreal, Quebec and Outaouais (also known under the name of law 170 ).
The population of the CMQ is of 711.900 inhabitants. She is the second greater community metropolitan in Quebec and 6th in Canada.
Administration
The president of the community is according to the law the mayor of the city centers, that is to say Quebec. He is assisted of a made up council of 17 members elected local officials.
