Synopsis

In a city of North two radically opposite families coexist and which, by the force of things, are unaware of themselves completely. On a side, the Currant and their six kids, people of modest means with the modest incomes living in a HLM, whose existence consists of combine and larcenies. Their children, Maurice, 12 years, is surely more débrouillard and intelligent. Other, rich person Quesnoy, catholic practitioners: Mister is director of EDF and Madam, in addition to her active participations in the village fairs of the parish, deals with the five children. Only worries come on behalf of Bernadette, 12 years, which acts in a a little erratic way lately. In short, two families which live each one on their side merrily, and which thus could never have met, nor to remain in contact. The grain of sand in these well oiled mechanisms, it is a nurse in obstetrics, Josette, who will be cause about it.

Twelve years earlier, the evening of Christmas, with maternity, Josette, depressed by the attitude loose and scorning of her lover/married hierarchically superior, Doctor Mavial, decides to exchange cradles two new-born babies: the son Quesnoy and the girl Currant. Thus came in the world, on a blow of anger, Maurice Groseille and Bernadette Quesnoy.

Remained faithful to his/her lover during all his years, finally hoping to make common life after the death of Mrs. Mavial, her illusions are reduced in smoke in a sentence of the doctor: “I will be able to never replace it. ” Finally realistic, Josette decides to make share by letter of her exchange of infants to the parents of the two children.

Upset in their vain existence and without surprises, Quesnoy thus decide to take Maurice with them by simulating an adoption, while preserving Bernadette and while omitting to reveal to him that they are not her truths parents to avoid a traumatism to him.
