The illustrated Trombone

Appeared of the March 17th with the October 20th 1977 under the impulse of Franquin and Yvan Delporte, the illustrated Trombone is a fastened touch of madness with thirty recoveries in the middle of the newspaper Spirou . Independent of the format and the spirit of this one, this itching powder publication bringing together draftsmen of various draftings is announced as of the n°2026 February 10th by the same blue prints of steps which had preceded the arrival by Gaston Lagaffe. Translation of the explosion of the phenomenon of the adult data base for adults ( Fluid icy , the Echo of Savannas , Metal howling , monthly Charlie …), the Trombone breaks formal conventions of the drawn account and the taboos of a newspaper rather right-thinking person.

Playing of the autofiction as with Gaston the hero without employment, it describes the leading gropings of a drafting pirates and scratches in the passing the mistakes of an industry in change.

Extract of a leading article of Jules-of-at-Smith-in-face: “One of the largest fellows of the trade, of which one would like to require a small text one of these days, is called Rene Goscinny. The public rumor affirms that he said, in connection with these referendums organized by the newspapers of young people near their public: “Me, the day when they will be the readers who will make the newspaper, I will not have any more that to take the door. ” And it is true that the public, large public, is disturbed by what is new. ”

Because of its parties taken and way in which it was presented in the form of an internal competitor to the newspaper, the Trombone could only die out. But it was the occasion there to scoff a little more the attitude of Mr. Boulier, Prunelle and other representatives of authority… This transitory destiny combined with the scarcity of the albums of the Trombone (resulting from unsold goods of Spirou , which was obliged to unhook them newspaper to be able to connect them in quarterly albums) made a newspaper worship but ignored of it.
