Significance

Beyond the anecdote, it is of course with a reading of our own company that invites this film, by opposition between the hell which the participants in this marathon live - deprived of sleep and time to reflect, and subjected to cruel tests (where one of them will die) - and the beauty of the landscape and the rising sun foreseen in a fugitive way outside. Sydney Pollack indicated to have attached a great importance to the character of the stimulating , “symbol of all that America had the worst and of better” . But one can also see a reflection there on the nonsense of the human condition .
