The green Buffoon

the green Buffoon ( Green Goblin in the original version) is a character of Comic S pertaining to Marvel Comics. It is one of the enemies emblematic of Spider-Man.

Origins

We have initially Norman Osborn, the first Green Buffoon, appeared for the first time in July 1964 in Amazing Spider-Man #14. Its first appearance as a Green Buffoon in the number 14 showed a buffoon moving on a brush but no reader knew his civil identity, it took into account its failure against Spidey and changed its brush for a sailplane high-tech in number 17 of " The Amazing Spider-man ", it returned at the time of the evening of opening of Spider-man club of Forest Hills rested by Flash Thompson, Peter flees of the combat to see Aunt May who had made an heart attack and let the Torch neutralize the Buffoon, Jameson launched a press campaign after this incident to make disappear the man-spider, Peter could not act any more with the risk to die and to leave Aunt May with the arm of dead but it took again service by knowing that May overcame the heart attack.

Norman Osborn , rich industrialist, having for wire Harry Osborn which will be later the best friend of Peter Parker, joins to Dr. Stromm, to make several experiments. But it has only one idea at the head, to steal its discoveries to him to earn money. It puts all works about it to denounce it with justice. Stromm swears in Norman to be avenged, but this one does not pay any attention to him, because from now on, it is very rich. One day, by excavating the office of Stromm, he discovers quite strange notes, on an unfinished experiment.
He decides to suddenly carry out the experiment which lasted a whole night to create a green liquid the liquid bubbled, then, he exploded. Norman was found at the hospital in the coma. With its alarm clock, Harry was at its sides.

Norman was of bad mood but it felt more powerful. Indeed, its intelligence had been multiplied by ten, so multiplied by ten that it had become insane. He was unaware of that its spirit had been duplicated. This spirit gradually took control on him. It communicated with him through the mirrors and incited it to become a criminal. Then it created a green costume with the image of a goblin (the English name of the buffoon is Green Goblin ). It manufactured an extremely fast jet-sailplane (" glider" in English), who could support gigantic loads. It had an arsenal of gadget in its " bag with mischievousness " : bombs pumpkins, boomerangs in the shape of sharp bats, smoke grenades… Its gloves emitted electric shocks being able to kill a man and its sailplane had a laser gun reducing of ashes anything. It decided to attack Spider-Man because it knew that the underworld would respect it if it managed to come to end from the " assemble-in-the air ". Thus was born the Green Buffoon, the worst enemy of Spider-Man. It was combined to the executors to come to end: without success! With the following meetings, same assessment. But he always escaped the police force! Osborn créea then a gas able to anaesthetize the direction of spider of the Weaver then took it in spinning mill. Once the hero changed into Parker, the Buffoon attacked! Peter was put K.O and Osborn took it along to its den. Being sure to carry it this time, the Buffoon showed his true face with the Spider and proved to him that it had never beaten it. To finish some, it released Parker and a battle followed. Finally, Norman rocked on electric wires and the shock made it amnesic, washing it of any suspicion to be Bouffon.Spidey thought that it was better thus, for him as for Norman.Cette history appeared dans" Amazing Spider-Man" 39&40. But at certain periods, the Green Buffoon took again control! And Peter always managed of accuracy to draw Norman from his madness. Alas, the incident reproduced! The Buffoon kidnapped Gwen Stacy and deposited it on the bridge of Broklyn. Spider-Man arrived and the battle started. Osborn jetta Gwen in the vacuum; the shock of the fall killed it. Insane of rage, Peter continued and abused the Buffoon Vert.Affaibli, Osborn ordered with his sailplane to impale assemble-in-the air. Informed by his direction of spider, Peter dodged the machine which impaled the Buffoon, victim of his own Machiavellism. Harry, under the effect of drug, attended the scene and the Jura to avenge his/her father! This history appeared dans" Amazing Spider-Man121&122".

The second Green Buffoon

Then its fiston, Harry Osborn, which took the coat, following the supposed death of its governor and after having discovered the costume of Spidey in the room of its joint tenant. September 1974, Amazing Spider-Man #136. Died in May 1993, Spectacular Spider-Man #200. He suffered from same the mental health disorders that his/her father, and that will accelerate its death. Harry, contrary to Norman, carried out a life between the family life, the prison and the psychiatric asylum. However, he will never seek to make of evil to the family of Parker, even if he is undoubtedly still in love with Mary Jane. It is even by saving Spider-Man of an unquestionable death that it will make the effort of too much which will cost him the life.

The third Green Buffoon

Dr. Hamilton was the psychiatrist of small Harry. He appears for the first time in the costume of Green Goblin (3rd of the name, therefore) in Amazing Spider-Man #176, January 1978. And disappears four months later, in Amazing Spider-Man #180, at the conclusion of a dantesque battle between Spidey and the two Green Goblins.

The fourth Green Buffoon

Phil Urich, the nephew of Ben Urich, was a time the fourth Buffoon Green, discovering by accident the laboratory of Norman Osborn in the first job number éponyme, in October 1995. If he is not really a superman and seizes his power with the light one, Phil Urich never passes on the bad side and will help even of the supermen like the Thing or Scarlet Spider. One year later, it hangs up again the gloves (the series not having to make figure enough) at the time of Crossover Onslaught: the High-Tech equipment which it had found in an old reference mark of Norman Osborn is destroyed in a last combat against a Sentinel.

The return of Norman Osborn

Norman Osborn reappeared officially in November 1996, in Spectacular Spider-Man #240, revealed like the project superintendent behind the Saga of the Clone. The next month, in Spider-Man #75, it kills Ben Reilly. Its great return in the New Yorkean company and the life of Peter Parker intervenes in October 1997, in Spectacular Spider-Man #250. Then it acquires a determining position in Daily Bugle, proposing a reward of 5 million dollars for the head of Spider-Man. What gives " Spider-Hunt" ( Sensational Spider-Man #25, Amazing Spider-Man #432, Spider-Man #89 and Spectacular Spider-Man #255, March 1998), then " Identity Crisis" ( Sensational Spider-Man #27 and 28, Spectacular Spider-Man #257 and 258, Spider-Man #92, May-June 1998).

Norman is then at the head put to obtain more power, by the means of an old ritual called " the Gathering off Five". But it receives the madness ( Sensational Spider-Man #32, Amazing Spider-Man #440, Spider-Man #96, Spectacular Spider-Man #262, Amazing Spider-Man #441, October-November 1998).

In the story-arc " Final Chapter" , Norman and Peter clash, Parker carries it, and Osborn is imprisoned, completely insane, thinking of having triumphed. Removed by Scriers, its mental health maintained by drugs, it since organized the order of the Buffoon, fell in love with its nurse, and tried lobotomiser Peter Parker to make it become its heir to Goblin legacy ( Spider-Man: Revenge off the Green Goblin #1, 2 and 3, Amazing Spider-Man (vol.2) #25 and Peter Parker: Spider-Man (vol.2) # October 25th, th and th 2000 - January 2001).

In Peter Parker: Spider-Man #44 with #47 (the arc " In Death in the Family" , August-October 2002), Spidey and the Buffoon still fight themselves without respite, until Peter refuses to fight. A very good story, which exploits the ambiguous relations father/wire love/hatred between Peter and Norman.

New plot against Spidey put in scene by Norman Osborn, of its cell of prison, this time, like starting point of Marvel Knights Spider-Man . The #12 (May 2005) explains us with which Osborn point of view of has fun to make impossible the life of Parker.

One also found his children - and those of Gwen Stacy - recently, in the story-arc " Sins Past" ( Amazing Spider-Man , at the end of 2004).

Alternate versions

Ultimate Marvel

In the universe Ultimate Marvel, Norman Osborn created OZ, the product injected with the spider which gave its capacities to Peter. After having noticed new faculties of the Peter young person, it decides to recreate the accident on him, and becomes thus the Green Buffoon, an enormous monster greenish launching of the fireballs and able to make gigantic jumps.
