the blue Angel ( Der Blaue Engel ) is a German film carried out by Josef von Sternberg, left in 1930.

Synopsis

The action is in Germany in 1925. Professor Immanuel Rath teaches the English literature in the college of a small town. He leads an existence routine and in conformity to suitabilities of his situation of professor. Old confirmed bachelor, it is also hated by his pupils, who call it professor Unrat ; unrat meaning refuse in German. This one discovers that some of its pupils go in the evening in a cabaret of bad reputation, named the Blue Angel. The professor decides to go to the site to surprise his pupils and to bring back them in the right way. Arrived at the cabaret, professor Rath falls under the charm from a singer in light behavior: Lola-Lola. In love insane, professor Marie with her, the femme fatale. He is laid off of his station to the college of the city and he begins a career of Clown through the country. But when it must turn over in its city to be given in spectacle for the first time, it becomes insane and jealous of his wife who succumbs to the charms of a beautiful French. During the night, it leaves the cabaret and turns over in its classroom whom it had left, and dies, the hands contracted on its desk which he regrets so much.
