The animal World Health Organization
The international Office of epizooties ( GOOSE ), from now on the animal World Health Organization , is an international agency whose main mission is to collect the declarations of Maladie S Animal are and to disseminate this information with all the Member States so that they can be protected from the epizooty S.
The GOOSE plays an important role of centralization and made information epidemiologic for the animal field, in bond with the WHO when the stakes relate to the human Santé, which is the case for many Zoonose S, whose Avian flu.
Its seat is with Paris and its working languages are English, Spanish and French.
World system of information (WAHID)
Since 2007, and for data collected as from 2004, an interface known as WAHID proposes in free access the information available sent by the countries;- immediate notifications,
- reports/ratios of follow-up, subjected by the Member States and notifying exceptional epidemiologic events in these countries,
- semi-annual reports/ratios on the sanitary situation of the notifiable diseases with GOOSE for each Member State,
- annual reports of medical information, information on the veterinary personnel, the laboratories, the vaccines, etc
History
This organization was created in 1924 following the epizooty of bovine Peste which has occurred in Belgium in 1920, because of importation of Zébu S coming from the Brésil.The GOOSE failed to disappear after the Second world war when UNO created FAO in 1946 and the the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, whose competences encroached largely on those of GOOSE. Official agreements were signed thereafter with FAO in 1952 and with WHO in 1960. Renamed the animal World Health Organization, it preserves however its initials GOOSE.
The GOOSE currently counts 167 Member States.
