The Zombies is an English group of Pop-rock'n'roll originating in the town of St Albans, formed in 1961 and composed of Rod Argent (organ and composition), Colin Blunstone (song), Chris White (low and composition), Paul Atkinson (guitar) and Hugh Grundy (battery).

In 1963, they take part in a local contest which they leave gaining, which enables them to record, since 1964, for the Decca recording company. The first individual one to appear is She' S Not There (written by Rod Argent), which is an enormous world success, arrives n° 1 of the charts at the United States and will be taken again by the group Santana on its album Moonflower .

Follow individual the Leave Me Be , Such Her No (which enters Signal 10 to the United States), She' S Coming Home , Whenever You' Re Ready , or Gotta Get has Hold Myself off, which initially gains a certain success (even an unquestionable success) in the United States, in Japan, or in Philippines where five the their individual ones reach Signal 10. The group passes then for one of the major groups of the British Invasion (even if, paradoxically, the United Kingdom is one of the only places where the group really does not go).

But the discs of Zombies are sold less and less well and, in 1967, they decide to record for CBS/Columbia a last album before separating; it will be Odessey and Oracle .

The album, that much holds today for the “ Pet Sounds English ”, is own-produced, the budget is ridiculous, the draftsman of the small pocket is mistaken and puts a “E” at “Odyssey”, then CBS/Columbia hesitates to leave the disc a group which does not exist any more… Odessey & Oracle ends up leaving in July 1968. The album, as well as the first individual ones which is drawn from it, make initially a failure, before, at the end of 68 - at the beginning of 69, the song Time off the Season do not reach Signal 5 in the United States (but still not in England…). The recording companies then start again to be interested in the group and its possible reformation, but Rod Argent and Chris White already started to work on a new album ( Argent ), and Blunstone Hake starts a career solo.

On the text with the back of the small pocket of Money , Rod Argent makes the error of speaking about the separation of Zombies “by difference in opinion”, whereas the public knows that it is their decline progessif which produced separation. The album, with sonorities however more than honourable ( The Feeling Is Inside …), finishes in the vats of the remainder buyers.

The group, as any British Invader which is respected, is briefly reformed however (without Rod Argent) in 1991 and leaves the album New World .
