The Youth of Picsou
the Youth of Picsou is a series of Comic S written and drawn by Keno Don Rosa. This Biographie of Balthazar Picsou was realized starting from information that Carl Barks had distilled with the wire of its stories.
These stories extend from the life in family with Glasgow in 1867 until the meeting of Picsou with its nephews, Donald Duck, Riri, Fifi and Loulou in 1947.
Publication
The series initially includes/understands twelve written and drawn episodes between 1991 and 1992, for a total of 212 boards. The first publication took place in Scandinavia of 1992 to 1994; first edition states-unienne in numbers 285 to 296 of the comic book Uncle Scrooge , of 1994 to 1996. Thereafter (or before for episode 0), Don Rosa composed of new stories whose action proceeds mainly in the past of Picsou; only the introductions and conclusions proceed with Donaldville with its nephews. So editors as Hachette in France could number these chapters to locate them in the chronology of the first twelve chapters, the author maintains that they are different in their genesis.
In France, the 12 initial episodes were published in Picsou Magazine of March 1994 in February 1996, follow-ups of an integral edition. One second publication took place in 2002-2003, followed by an integral 2nd edition in July 2004.
This magazine includes in the list of the episodes of the Jeunesse certain stories of Gift Rosa when those present facts of the past told by Picsou to its nephews. They are numbered according to their place in the biography and with the word (a) . Six of them are published in integral edition in July 2005 like volume 2 of the integral edition of the Jeunesse of July 2004.
the Dream of a life of Gift Rosa published in 2002 diverts several of the episodes of the Jeunesse : thanks to an invention of Géo Trouvetou, Rapetou penetrate in the dream of Picsou to conceal the combination of its trunk to him. But, they are astonished by the dreams of Picsou, centered on the adventures of its youths rather than on its money. It makes it possible the author to modify a crucial part of the history the Two Hearts of Yukon .
Reward
Don Rosa received a Will Eisner Award in 1995 for the Youth of Picsou (" Better history published in the form of feuilleton" , Best Serialized Story ). The price appears in a lengthened edition of the equivalent of three boards of the last episode the richest Duck of the world .
