The Workshop (play)

the Workshop is a play of Jean-Claude Grumberg, created on April 18th 1979 with the Théâtre of Odéon to Paris, with Maurice Bénichou, Jacques Rosner and Jean-Claude Grumberg itself with the setting in scene. In 1998, it is taken again with the Théâtre Hébertot, always with Paris, with Wojtek Pszoniak: she is a great success and receives in 1999 the Molière of the best part of the repertory.

Subject

The part is held in a workshop of clothes industry from where the name of the part “the Workshop”. It puts in scene employees, especially women, who work, discusses, laughs, cries at the time of the post-war period, 1945 to 1952. Thus, Jean-Claude Grumberg shows us by various approach, thanks to his gallery of different characters, lasts it socio-economic reality of the post-war period, the mourning of some, the illusory hope of the others, those which refuse to be let invade in the past and those which call with the duty to remember.
