The Virgin of humility adored by a prince of the House of Este
the Virgin of humility adored by a prince of the House of Este is a table of Iacopo Bellini, painted towards 1440.
The giver knelt with the foot of this Virgin of humility sitting with very the ground was identified a long time with Leonello d' Este, marquis de Ferrare of 1441 to 1450 - whose Iacopo Bellini painted the portrait in 1441 (lost today) - but, according to a recent proposal, it could act, for physiognomical reasons, of one of his brothers, Ugo or Meliaduse.
The meticulous treatment of the landscape, the refined invoice and in particular the use of tiny gold keys to underline the luminous accents, are not without evoking the art of Gentile da Fabriano, near which Iacopo seems to be formed with Venice.
