The Vicar

the Vicar is a Play of Rolf Hochhuth for topics criticisms having made about the pope Pie XII, five years after its death in 1963, as for its action lasting the Second world war, in particular with regard to the Jews, and in general of the attitude of the Church lasting this period (cf the role of the Catholic church during the Second world war). The film Amen , of Costa-Gavras, is drawn from this part.

According to Ion Mihai Pacepa, officer of the Soviet information, the history of this part would be closely related to that of the Soviet Union. In 1963, the General Ivan Agayants, chief of the service of misinformation of the KGB, would have conceived a plan against Pie XII. The idea was to produce a play being pressed on alleged files. The producer of the part, Erwin Piscator would have been a devoted Communist, of long time in relation to Moscow.
