Among the famous characters having marked the commune appear:- the general baron Claude Testot-Ferry, veteran of the republican armies, imperial then royal, who was mayor of the city during the Restauration;
- Henry Bernard Alfred Testot-Ferry says “Henry de Ferry”, geologist, archeologist and French paleontologist born on February 5th, 1826 with the Vault-the-Queen who, with Adrien Arcelin, discovered the prehistoric site of the Roche of Solutré.
