the System Valentine (original title: The Golden Globe ) is a novel of Science-fiction of John Varley published in the the United States in 1998 and France in 2003.

Synopsis

Kenneth C. Valentine, known as Sparky, is an actor born. As of the eight years age already by heart knew all the repertory of William Shakespeare and, thanks to the genetic engineering, it is able to modify its appearance at will at the point to be able to play a scene of Romeo and Juliette by interpreting the two roles at the same time. Its nickname of Sparky comes to him from old televised series whose he played the main role formerly.

In the universe where he saw, Humanity was almost exterminated by an extraterrestrial invasion which drove out it his two principal establishments on the Earth and Jupiter and which forced it, for its survival, to take refuge on the Moon.

Continued for a mysterious reason by the underworld Charonnaise, Sparky itself in a permanent escape for its survival, is accompanied by a genetically improved dog and a trunk to the innumerable resources, the Pantechnicon , which will save several times the life to him.
