The University of California with Irvine
The the University of California with Irvine (commonly named CPU Irvine ) is a campus of the the University of California, located at Irvine. The campus is 64 kilometers (40 miles) of Los Angeles. The name of the university is a homage to the Irvine Company which gave him 4 km ² and sold 2 km ² in 1959. Together, the the University of California and Irvine Company drew up the plans of a city around the campus, which became thereafter the municipality of Irvine in 1971.
Anecdote
The buildings of Middle Earth , one of the residential complexes of the campus, were named according to places and characters of the Seigneur of the Rings of J.R.R Tolkien.
