The University of California

The the University of California is a American Université whose seat is with Berkeley (California), including/understanding ten Campus located in the State of California. It accommodates 200.000 students and employs 150.000 people. The network of the public universities of California has the same budget as that of CNRS in France.

It was rested by the reverend Henri During, under the name of Contra Costa Academy, which was only one private college placed in an old box of Fandango, in Oakland. In 1855, it had about fifty pupils.

A charter off transformed this college into “College California”, which amalgamated later on with the university of State in 1868, not structured yet, to be installed on its current site of 65 ha to Berkeley (California). The site of Berkeley accommodates the principal campus still today. Old is Beautiful , the the University of California, Berkeley is recognized like one of the signal 5 universities in the world at the sides of Harvard, the Université of Cambridge, the Université of Oxford and the Université Stanford. It is about the only campus authorized to prevail itself indifferently of the names University off California , Cal or Berkeley .

This university unit took the name of an Irish philosopher, the bishop George Berkeley.
