the Union is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

This commune is located in the Banlieue North-eastern of Toulouse. Access by French Highway A68 left

History

Some anecdotes on the Union:

  • the Union draws its name from its origins: the common one was made up in the years 1790 by fusion of the hamlets of Belbèze and Cornaudric (also called Cournaudric) in the years 1790.

  • At the time of the retirement of Spain of the Napoleonean troops under the orders of the Marshal of Empire Soult, the territory of the commune was the theater of combat between these troops and those of the duke of Wellington launched to their continuation, in margin of the battle which took seat with Jolimont (see Bataille of Toulouse (1814)).
  • One hears still sometimes people of Saint-Jean-in-the Union, vestige of times when the communes of Midsummer's Day and the Union did only one and reference to the Paroisse of the same name.
