Synopsis
Julien Dechaumes is the socialist mayor of Saint-Juire, a charming small village of the Vendée. With a political aim (next legislative elections), it tries to obtain a subsidy of the Ministry for the Culture in order to equip its village with a media library. In company of his/her friend of heart, the Parisian écrivaine Bérénice Beaurivage, it returns visit to his/her uncle, editor association of a monthly magazine of left, in order to obtain its media support. On this occasion, Julien becomes acquainted with the journalist Blandine Lenoir who, allured by his step, decides to devote an article to him. It goes to Saint-Juire to interview the inhabitants and meets the teacher Marc Rossignol, violently opposed to the project in particular because of the demolition of a splendid tree centenary that the construction of such a building would involve…

Rohmer can collect the air of time well and sticks here to follow the steps of a politician modest and honest, the socialist mayor Julien Dechaumes (Pascal Greggory). It is not a “leaf”, but a country squire rather shifted, thinking that the fact of equipping its village with a media library is an innovating idea being able to serve its career. The small media circle of left is truer than natural. The journalist Blandine Lenoir (Clementine Amouroux) conscientiously achieving his report is very credible. One already believes to have seen, with the tv news, a instit ecologist in anger such that Fabrice Luchini incarnates it.
