the Track of the giants ( The Big trail ) is an American film of Raoul Walsh, left in 1930.

Synopsis

On banks of the the Mississippi, the applicants with the conquest of the West pile up, loans for the departure. Coleman, a young trapper, inquires into the murder of his/her best friend. He suspects the driver of the one of the caravans and is made engage like guide.

Comments

  • the film is an ode with the pioneers. It shows the course of a caravan of the state of the Missouri to the Oregon and the various misadventures (crossed of an unchained river, deserted, storm, snow…) that the conquerors must face. The meeting with the Indians makes also party of the obstacles. It is however not reduced to a brutal adversity. One of it is held peacefully under the arbitration of Breck Coleman, the hero, who ties besides a major relation with certain tribes and openly asserts his attachment for these people.
  • It acts of the first great role of John Wayne.
