The Third Will

The Third Will is a fantastic series scenarized by Xavier Dorison and Alex Alice, drawings and color of Alice, published at Glénat.

The intrigue proceeds in Europe of the beginning of the 14th century. She tells the search of a mysterious manuscript by an young girl and a scholar with last turbid. In Europe controlled by the Christian religion, where whoever dares to give the latter causes some is seen irremediably purified by fire, one discovers mysterious and terrifying crypt (walls dark and oozing, of the crosses of Christ during that and there, a box carved with craniums…) in an abbey. A little later this abbey is wildly made devastate by a band of warriors to the pace of corbels…

With a few miles from there, the archbishop of Paris calls upon one of his old friends, Conrad de Marbourg, to inquire into this inhuman massacre. This old friend with the dubious past refuses initially, is on the point of leaving and when he seeks to re-examine the archbishop last once, he finds this crucifié last, fixed on the vault of the cathedral. He then takes under his wing the adopted girl of the archbishop and puts in hunting these strange murderers…

Begin an epopee then where the conspiracies mix with the Enquiry and Templiers, the madness of knowledge and the divine capacity in a universe where the finer feelingss do not have any place, where only the finality counts and not the means…

The charm of this data base also lies in the quality of the drawing of Alex Alice. Of a Gothic style, certain images seem to be reproductions of paintings.

The scenario is partially based on historical characters: The Count Henri II of Sayn (Germanic county of Palatinat-Westphalia) was shown into 1233 to organize satanic orgies by Large German Inquisiteur of the time, Conrad de Marbourg. Henri was discharged by a joined together episcopal assembly with Mainz, but Conrad refused the verdict and left the city. One is unaware of if Conrad were killed by knights of Henri on his return of Thuringe, but the investigation was abandoned because of cruelty of Conrad, although the pope Gregoire IX ordered that its crime is punished.

According to a telex published on May 16th, 2007 on the site of Auracan current events, Xavier Dorison and Alex Alice would work following the Third Will.
