The Thaon-the-Vosges
the Thaon-the-Vosges is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.
Its inhabitants is called Thaonnais.
Geography
The Thaon-the-Vosges is located in the valley of the the Moselle at 10 km downstream from Épinal and at 60 km of Nancy. The city profits from two direct accesses towards the fast track N57.
History
In July 2003 was celebrated the first millenium of the city, the first hard copies attesting the existence of the city would go back to the year 1003.In 1904, the Abbot C. Olivier published a book in two volumes entitled " History of Thaon-les-Vosges".
It made there state of some archaeological inventions of the Gallo-Roman period, made on the territory of the commune: a fragment of a bronze door discovered in the bed of the Moselle and deposited with the Museum of Epinal in 1835, and of many remains of tiles punts, Roman tiles, with the localities Thuillons.
Two discovered lets suppose a former occupation: a flint glare to the locality Fountain the She-cat, a point of lance with bronze casing dated from the Bronze Age (Input register of the Museum of Epinal, M.D.V., V, 99).

Thanks to the establishment of the company Honeywell, the city became the world capital of the turbocompressor.
Curiosities
The Rotunda, historic building, are an imposing building in the shape of Cross of Lorraine (seen sky) which was built as from 1910 by the Laundry and Dyeing of the Thaon-the-Vosges (BTT) like employers' hearth for the inhabitants of the city. It is semi-regionalistic, semi-modern work of the Desclers architect, with extensions by the architect Albert Hébrard in 1920. The big room of the Rotunda is decorated with murals by Löys Prat.Become municipal hall in 1980, the Rotunda shelters a theater of more than 1000 places and accommodates today many living rooms, congress, seminars, exposures and spectacles. Thanks to a co-operation activates between the towns of Thaon and of Épinal, the Rotunda is the subject of an ambitious cultural project to become a cultural pole of Lorraine of the South under the name of Scene Vosges.
This theater belongs to a Mixed trade-union with cultural vocation associates it with two other places of diffusion, of creation: the auditorium of Louviére, the theater of Épinal. The purpose of the theater of the Rotunda is to become an officially agreed scene. Work of rehabilitation is programmed of June 2007 in August 2008.
