The Soundhouse Slaps
The Soundhouse Tapes is the album demonstration of the group of heavy metal Iron Maiden.
It was recorded the December 30th 1978 in Spaceward Studios of Cambridge, the their first concert day before in Ruskin Arms, with Di' Anno. The group was composed of Steve Harris (low), Dave Murray (guitar), Doug Sampson (battery) and Paul Di' Anno (song).
The name of the disc comes from Soundhouse Club, a club of rock'n'roll specialized in the heavy metal directed by Neal Kay in London in the district of Kingsbury. Filled with enthusiasm by the demonstration, Kay programs it soon with insistence in its club, in particular the title Prowler which will remain several months the favorite title of assiduous of Soundhouse Club.
The notoriety acquired in Soundhouse Club made it possible the group to be solicited for other concerts with more famous groups, and to increase their popularity. EMI then requested the group to take part in compilation Metal for Muthas, then a contract for five albums.
The EP includes/understands three titles, all compounds by Harris:
- Iron Maiden
- Invasion
- Prowler
The disc was published in 5000 specimens the November 9th 1979. 3000 specimens were sold in one week. The record dealers asked for a reprinting of 20 000 specimens, but the group refused it and the 5000 originals became a item of very required collector. There are also several pirate versions .
One second edition " officielle" was published in 2001 in the United States at the time of the republication of the albums of the group. It was necessary to recover 6 good present in the albums then to send them with 6,66$ to hope to be one of the 6666 recipients of this republication.
