The Sonata with Kreutzer

the Sonata with Kreutzer , news of Leon Tolstoï published in 1891, is rightly regarded as one of its brilliant successes, because of the acuity with which the Russian author describes the progression of the feeling of the jealousy at a middle-class man whose misogyny, selfishness and pride are the first causes of a marital drama to the tragic accents.

Suitability, love, pleasures are transformed irremediably into alienation, hatred and defects in the human life.

Only one possible safety: the abandonment with the divine love and the ideal which it represents. All the remainder is vain.

Such can be the summary of this book, small by the size, and large by its descriptive accuracy of the truth on the sourness of the human feelings.

Beautiful book, but which should represent the alternatives, hardly outlined (from where the explanatory postface of the author) under a light of hope: at the same time strong, but soft too.

The new one refers to the Sonate for violin and piano n° 9 in the major one of Ludwig van Beethoven which one of the protagonists of the work plays.

The text inspired thereafter several musical works of which the first quartet of Leoš Janáček.
