Closer to the initial hearth (located in the islands of Admiralty), they undoubtedly among are split up, especially from the linguistic point of view. On the other hand, no narrow relationship exists with the Papou S.

The the United Kingdom establishes a protectorate on the Solomon Islands in the Années 1890, within the framework of the Commission of the Western Pacific (and under the German pressure).

Of very hard combat took place on these islands between the United States and Japan during the Second world war. Autonomy was carried out in 1976 and independence was granted the July 7th 1978. The current problems which call into question the viability of this archipelago are, inter alia, the deficit of government, the Déboisement and Malaria controls it.

Michael Maina, the minister salomonais Police force, estimated at the beginning of 2005 that this force was to be last in review because of “  low registers carences  ”. On the other hand, Peter Noble, a New Zealander, assistant of the “  coordinator spécial  ” of the RAMSI, left its functions while being cordially congratulated by sir Allan Kemakeza. The current coordinator is Australian, James Batley, a diplomat of career. The major part of the population depends on the Agriculture, the fishing, and the Sylviculture for at least part of their life. The majority of the manufactured goods and the oil products must be imported.

The islands are rich in mineral resources little exploited such as the Plomb, the Zinc, the Nickel, and the Or. The economic troubles in Southeast Asia led to an abrupt reduction in the industry of the timber structural and the economic output decreased by approximately 10  % in 1998.

The government instituted wage cuts in the public service and other sectors. The economy partially began again in 1999 thanks to the rise of the ransom prices over the worldwide market and the first complete year of exploitation of the mine Gold Ridge. However, in the middle of the year, the closing of the principal plantation of Palmier to oil of the country throws a shade on future prospects. The disastrous political situation is not likely to facilitate the economic growth.
